What is diamond traceability?

Diamond traceability is the recorded and independently verifiable history of a diamond's origin, certificate and changes of ownership (its chain of custody) from the mine to its current owner.

In short

GemsTrace gives every stone a digital identity linked to its certificate number. From the moment a stone is registered, each step — production, certification, wholesaler, jeweller and buyer — is stored as a time-stamped record. Anyone can check a stone's origin, certificate status and any lost/stolen alert in seconds using the certificate number or a shared link.

How does it work?

  1. 1

    Registration

A jeweller or dealer registers the stone with its certificate number (GIA, IGI, HRD) and attributes via the dashboard or the API.

  2. 2

    Certificate matching

The certificate number is matched against the certificate source and the verification state is recorded.

  3. 3

    Ownership transfer

When the stone is sold, a transfer event is recorded; sales coming from integrated B2B systems create the transfer automatically.

  4. 4

    Verification

A buyer or anyone else searches by certificate number and sees the origin, certificate and chain summary. Personal ownership details are masked.

  5. 5

    Risk signal

Stones reported lost or stolen are shown with a clear warning in the verification result.

Why does it matter?

Prevents fraud

Re-use of the same certificate number on more than one stone becomes visible at registration.

Transparent origin

Origin and certificate data no longer depend on a paper document; they can be verified independently.

Proves ownership

Provides a persistent ownership record and a lost/stolen registry if a stone is lost or stolen.

Trust at speed

An automatic trust profile for the jeweller, a verification that takes seconds for the buyer.

Frequently asked questions

What is diamond traceability?

It is the recorded and independently verifiable history of a diamond's origin, certificate and chain of ownership from the mine to its current owner. GemsTrace keeps this record digitally for every stone.

What is GemsTrace?

GemsTrace is a web platform for diamond supply-chain traceability. Jewellers and dealers register their stones, and anyone can verify origin, certificate and ownership chain with a certificate number. It is a product of İksirsoft, based in Antalya, Türkiye.

How do I verify a diamond?

Enter the stone's certificate number (GIA, IGI or HRD) at gemstrace.com/en/verify, or open the stone link shared by your jeweller. The result shows origin, certificate status, an ownership-chain summary and any lost/stolen alert.

Which certificates are supported?

GemsTrace works with GIA, IGI and HRD certificate numbers. The certificate number is linked to the stone record and its verification state is stored.

How is a lost or stolen stone shown?

The owner or an authorised user can sign in and report a stone as lost or stolen. While the report is active, anyone who searches the certificate number sees a clear warning in the verification result.

Is my ownership information public?

No. The public verification result only shows origin, certificate and a chain summary; personal ownership details are masked. Data is processed in line with KVKK and GDPR.

Who uses GemsTrace?

Jewellers and dealers (inventory registration, ownership transfer on sale), wholesalers, end buyers (verification) and institutions such as insurers (risk and history checks).

How secure are accounts?

Two-factor authentication (MFA/2FA) is required for dealer and administrator accounts, and access is role-based. The platform is available in Turkish, English, Arabic and French.
